Gold, Silver, Silence, Solitude

Some things are more important than others.  Gold and silver are important.  Silence and solitude are very important.

Gold is no match for silence.  In silence, whispers are heard: ancient, unchanging babbles. Can gold purchase the sound Gamaliel heard: a babbling brook?  Much gold refines not the ear.

Gold is an age old pursuit but gold cannot unlock the ages.  As I age, the ages matter.  How did those before us persevere?  Gold is dumb when questioned.  Silence, when questioned, speaks.

Silence is the well water; solitude the string and bucket.

Solitude buys what silver cannot.  Chummy cessations reveal a thirst for meaning.  I ask silver, "How did water sound when Archimedes fetched?"  Silver is dumb when questioned.  Solitude is the chore by which my answer comes.

Chores are rarely enjoyed and rarely regretted.  Earning gold and silver can be a chore.  All the more laborious is capturing silence and solitude.

Some things are more important than others.  Gold and silver are important.  Silence and solitude are very important.
